We got a cat!

We adopted a cat today! She gets spayed and comes home on Tuesday!
When we first got to the Anti-Cruelty Society, we went into the cageless roaming rooms to look at those cats, but we didn't really like any of them too much. One that we had seen online and were interested in was nipping at me as soon as I tried to pet her....no good! My hopes were down at that point, but we decided to go in and look at the ones in the cages in the other room. As soon as we walked in, a woman told us to look around and said that we could see as many as we wanted but not to pet them in their cages and that we had to wash our hands between cats. So...we started washing our hands and heard little tiny "meow, meow, meows" coming from behind us. It was Lucky...so....we asked to see her pretty much right away without looking around at all. And that was it. We didn't even get any other ones out of their cages. She was scared at first and seemed to be startled by loud or sudden noises, but even when she was scared, she wasn't nipping at us or being agressive at all. Mark even touched her paws and her nose to make sure she wasn't a biting cat...and she passed the test. Before long, she crawled up on my lap and made herself at home. She started sniffing my hand as I was petting her head and I was afraid that she was going to bite me, but she licked me instead! Soon after, she curled up on Mark's lap. She is a year old and has beautiful fur colors and big green eyes. She even has a black stripe running down her spine--so cute! Her fur is soft and she's teeny tiny. She is so pretty and sweet and because she's very little, she won't break our legs when she sits and walks on us (ahem, CLARK)! They said she might get a little bigger, but that she's probably pretty close to her full size. When it was time for us to go fill out the application paperwork and get interviewed, she didn't want the lady to pick her up off of Mark's lap! She was pretty mellow, too. She seemed pretty content just sitting curled up on our laps. She wasn't even trying to get away after she got used to us a little bit.

So...Mark's going to leave work a little early on Tuesday to go and pick her up. We are very excited!
