Oh, How My Garden Will Grow!

I finally (thanks to the dollar spot at Target) acquired the things I needed to start my little balcony herb garden today! I had been holding off because I wanted some planters that would attach to the balcony railing, but they were all ridiculously expensive. So then I was just going to get a couple rectangular pots and just keep them on the ground, but they were also pretty expensive (like, 6 bucks each!). I was really getting frustrated--a little herb garden shouldn't cost so much! Then I found these uber-cute little tins in the dollar spot, and decided to just go for it. Of course, I had to use a hammer and nail to create some old school drainage holes in the bottoms of the tins, but for $1 each, I don't mind a little bit of extra work. Plus, during the winter, these will all fit on the window ledges inside, whereas only one rectangular planter would've fit. I also bought gloves ($3), a trowel ($1), a rake-y thing ($1), and shears ($1). And the rake-y thing and shears were in the dollar spot too...and they have pink handles! I'll be gardening in style!

I'm going to attempt to grow chives, oregano, basil, green onions, parsley, and cilantro.
Wish me and my little herb garden luck!

Good luck on your garden! I look forward to the many meals we will prepare with what will surely be a bumper crop of fresh herbs
